Over the weekend Newtown Junction saw a flux of sneaker fanatics flocking in and out of the creative hub of Johannesburg, Newtown.
Young and old sneaker heads came to celebrate Africa’s largest sneaker trading event Sneaker Exchange, the event was headlined by one of the biggest hip-hop star Cassper Nyovest exhibiting his Family Tree merchandise alongside many other talented vendors.
The event gave an opportunity to young upcoming artists to showcase their different crafts including performances on stage that took the event to another level of fun and drew in more crowds, with the mall seeing over one thousand attendees, it was definitely the place to be. Pop culture curators such as Gigi Lamayne, TTGO, Bontle Modiselle and Priddy Ugly came out to show support and celebrate Newtown Junction and Sneaker Exchange. Heloise van Niekerk, Newtown Junction Assets Manager says “We are on a rebranding and revamping journey that’s looking strictly at advocating for South African culture. We are a mall that believes in the betterment of South Africans, we want to create a space that our consumers can completely identify with.”
Newtown Junction has embarked on a journey, that will change the interface of what Newtown Junction can and will offer to its people; there are many exciting initiatives to come from Newtown Junction in the year of 2018.
